In sap which GL master data is maintained at company code level?
Understanding GL master data is very important for an sap fico consultant. Do we create GL master data for each company code separately? Is GL master data same across all company codes?
Let's first understand what is the meaning of chart of account level and company code level. Chart of accounts level means that same data is shared by each company code (All company codes are assigned to same chart of accounts). Company code level data means that each company code has it's own data. Data in company code 1 can be difference from data in company code 2.
GL master has many fields (data). Some fields are at chart of accounts level which means these fields are shared by all company code. These field values are same for all company codes. For example, GL description, GL account type. Description and account type will be same for each company code. There are GL fields which changes form company code to company code. In company code1, GL may be blocked for posting but in another company code same GL may not posting is allowed in the GL.
